Swine Flu Updates
September 1st, 2009 | by caprice |The flu season is coming upon us. Here’s a quick update about the Swine Flu (H1N1 viral infection) and web sources that can tell you how to prepare against the next wave of infections in the Northern hemisphere.
The virus directly infects the lung and can cause severe respiratory failure which requires intensive care. The Southern Hemisphere has already experienced a higher demand on their Intensive Care Units (ICUs) because of this fact. Unlike the seasonal flu virus, H1N1 affects otherwise seemingly healthy younger people. The good news is that the majority of cases have not been severe so far according to the World Health Organization which is the source for this information.
