Protecting Your Health Records

In chapter 10 of Personalizing Your Health Care, a review of health care information technology is provided for you, along with an assessment of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) information technology strategic plan 2008 - 2012. This comprehensive plan for connecting the computer systems in the United States has some good points but also needs some major work. Some groups have picked up on the privacy issues as the major focus to oppose The Wired Act which will fund some of the work in the IT stategic plan.

Here is an excellent site that further stresses my point in informing others of reasons not to post your health information on Internet sites, etc. This site also provides easy links to communicate with your legislatures regarding discussions around The Wired Act. This is a very important topic, so when you have a minute, please read chapter 8 and look at the site so you can be informed about what health care information technology means to you.
