Kudos for transparency at Cleveland Clinic
December 18th, 2008 | by caprice |This month Cleveland Clinic emphasized their commitment to transparency of information by augmenting their physician directory with respective associations with company listed conveinently within the physician’s briefing page. Associations including equity positions, royalty rights, speaking and consulting fees, if applicable, are viewable alongside the other pertinent information a prospective patient would want to know about a doctor. Patients are provided this disclosure information (if any exist) and are encouraged to discuss resulting questions and concerns with their doctor. You can get an idea of how this looks at http://my.clevelandclinic.org/news/2008/cleveland_clinic_physician_disclosures.aspx. This easy access disclosure is an excellent example of providing transparency for consumers during the decision-making process. Congratulations goes to Cleveland Clinic for supporting consumer-oriented health care!
P.S. It will be nice to see every health care organizations follow this excellent example in the future by augmenting their website data with integrated disclosure information.
