About Caprice Leinonen

Caprice Leinonen, Author of Personalizing Your Health CareWhen you volunteer at an early age to be a “candy-striper”, the desire of helping others in the health care process becomes part of your mission in life. We were called candy stripers because we wore red and white striped aprons so the hospital patients knew they could ask the candy stripers for casual assistance. Caprice Leinonen was a candy-striper for a short period of time during high school.

Caprice is still a committed health care professional. She worked as a pharmacy technician during college; after graduating she became a medical technologist working in clinical laboratories. Caprice later became a consultant for the implementation and strategic acquisition of enterprise-wide information technology during her work with hospitals and health care enterprises. Doing a full circle back to focusing on the individual, she is now working on consumer-oriented health care education.

Caprice lives in Kirkland, Washington near Seattle. She is a community certified emergency response team (CERT) member, a member of the King County Library Board for the City of Kirkland, and active with the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. She enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, biking, golfing, geocaching, and traveling.
