Personal Health Information - Future Needs

Health care and health care legislation keeps moving just as academic research, disease, and technology. Moving beyond the past discussions of the health care services system itself, it is time to focus on what I advocate as the third dimension of HIPAA. Most people are familiar with that acronym now and associate it with information privacy and security. Those would be the first two dimensions of HIPAA.

What is the third dimension of HIPPA? It is the ethical use of personal health information (PHI). The United States is continuing to refine the types and quality of PHI that is being collected; the uses and potential uses are enormous. Marketing exploitations of PHI are the news headliners but actually, we can see a lot of good come from the changes we make regarding these data. I have added a couple of pages including research papers to begin with to start the dialogues on this site. Please see the new pages: Population Based Genetic Screening as well as Driver’s License and Organ Donation Elections Data.
